Tahche and Tersus Services Join Forces in Fostering Acts of Service Together (F.A.S.T) Event

Cebu City, November 28, 2023 – In a heartwarming collaboration, Tahche partnered with Tersus Services for a philanthropic event called “Fostering Acts of Service Together” (F.A.S.T). This initiative unfolded on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, as a testament to the companies’ commitment to social responsibility and as an act of giving back and gratitude for their continued success.

The event marked the culmination of a month-long donation drive organized by Tahche and Tersus Services, encouraging employees to come together and donate from October 24 to November 24. Generous contributions poured in, consisting of essentials such as rice, canned goods, and hygiene kits. These donations were meticulously collected and later distributed during the F.A.S.T event.

The focal point of the charitable effort was Gasa sa Gugma, a home for the aged situated in Cebu City, Philippines. Tahche volunteers took center stage, going onsite to not only hand-deliver the donated goods but also to bring joy and entertainment to the elderly residents.

The day’s agenda included a lively bingo game that brought some excitement to the otherwise regular day, and a heartwarming serenade from the employees, which effectively touched the elderly residents’ hearts as reflected by the claps and smiles that ensued. All these served to create moments of joy and connection.

Beyond the facilities of Gasa sa Gugma, Tahche and Tersus Services also extended their generous donations to the homeless and street children.

The F.A.S.T event was not only a success in terms of the tangible impact it had on the lives of the recipients but also in embodying the spirit of gratitude and giving back this holiday season. Through this initiative, Tahche and Tersus Services expressed their deep appreciation for the continued trust of their clients, which has been instrumental in their thriving success and ability to give back. It also served as a poignant reminder of the power of collective goodwill and the meaningful contributions that businesses can make to their communities.

As Tahche and Tersus Services reflect on the success of the F.A.S.T event, they are invigorated by the belief that acts of service can foster positive change and strengthen the bonds between businesses and the communities they serve.

Amylene Sy Shares Tahche’s Present and Future at IBPAP’s Japan Business Mission

Last Oct. 25, 2023, the Japan Business Mission organized by IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines, Inc. (IBPAP) to strengthen Japan-Philippine partnership was held at the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), Tokyo, Japan. DTI Philippines and HDI Japan are two of the organizations that supported the event. Among the esteemed participants is Tahche’s very own Country Manager, Amylene Sy.

In a charismatic presentation, Ms. Sy left a lasting impression on the audience as she shared expert insights on Tahche’s groundbreaking services and their positive impact on the recruitment and outsourcing industries.

And there’s no chance we’re letting you miss out on that as we share in this article the highlights of her talk.

Tailor-Fitted, Concierge-Like Experience for Clients

Tahche’s primary focus, as highlighted by Ms. Sy, is to provide a tailor-fitted and concierge-like experience to clients outside the Philippines. This commitment goes beyond mere recruitment services. It extends to making it easy for clients to set up their business or teams in the Philippines, taking away the hassles of creating their own business entities.

Ms. Sy emphasized that Tahche’s goal is to become a trusted partner for businesses looking to expand their workforce in the Philippines, providing a seamless and hassle-free integration of vibrant and talented Filipino employees.

The Best of Both Worlds for Employees

A highlight of Ms. Sy’s talk was the unique proposition Tahche offers to employees: the best of both worlds.

(a) Social and Job Security: A local full-time employee who has been regularized enjoys a social and job security blanket protected by Philippine law. And so a full-time job and regularization are highly prized in the Philippines, just as they are in Japan. Tahche provides the opportunity for these, aligning with the country’s work culture and Filipinos’ desire for stability.

(b) Access to Global Opportunities: Employees in Tahche’s network have access to global job opportunities and international rates. These without having to leave the country, without having to be a gig worker or freelancer online, and without giving up on government benefits provided to full-time, regularized workers. Employees also get an enriching dual experience from local and international work practices.

So if you’re a company who cares for social responsibility, Tahche is your go-to partner.

What’s Next? Tahche’s Vision

Ms. Sy wrapped up her talk by discussing Tahche’s vision for the future with much enthusiasm. She shared how Tahche is committed to making it even easier for Filipino professionals and global companies to connect. And so it will be introducing the Tahche mobile app, set to launch in Q1 of 2024 on iOS and android. This app will serve as a comprehensive platform for both job-seekers and businesses looking to build and manage teams in the Philippines.

The goal is clear: to retain the ease of doing business in the Philippines through Tahche while making it faster, more convenient, and, ultimately, more accessible for everyone involved. Tahche’s vision is to create a digital bridge that allows professionals and companies across the globe to collaborate seamlessly and create opportunities that benefit both sides.

Amylene Sy’s presentation at the IBPAP’s Japan Business Mission not only highlighted Tahche’s commitment to providing top-notch Filipino professionals and recruitment services but also offered a glimpse into the company’s promising future set to revolutionize the way businesses expand their teams in the Philippines.

He emphasized how they represent the excellence that defines Tahche and how building teams in the Philippines is the secret sauce for success.

“You guys represent what’s great about Tahche. You guys are the reason that we’re here. When I talk to clients, and I tell them that we’ve got the best talent here in the world, that you can build a better team here in the Philippines than you can anywhere in the world, at first, they’re a little bit concerned. But once they’ve built that team, once they’ve worked with them, once they meet you guys. That’s true. And so I wanna thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.”

Hosts Extraordinaire

Cyril Jaranilla and Billy Sienes, our charming hosts for the night, kept the audience engaged and entertained, infusing the event with their unique blend of humor and professionalism.

Tawag ng Tanghalan at Tahche

Eleven contestants, representing Tahche’s 11 years, poured their hearts into their performances, singing their chosen songs in front of an eager audience. The top three contestants then battled it out with medleys, competing for the title of Tawag ng Tanghalan Grand Champion.

The judges, brought in from outside Tahche to ensure no biases ruined the night, had a tough job. Criteria including voice quality, stage presence, impact, and adherence to the rules were meticulously considered. We tip our hats to Ms. Xenia Teresa Lecaros-Lagarnia, versatile professional, Atty. Lalaine Salve, Secretary of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, and Ms. Janet Lopez, CEO of Mami J Events and Services, for their impeccable judgment.

Recognition and Appreciation

Between the performances, sumptuous dinner filled the gaps, along with raffle draws that had Tahche employees from Cebu and Manila eagerly awaiting their prizes.

Embracing Hands-on Leadership and Team Visibility for Success: Bryan Luoma (CEO) Visits the PH

In a world where remote work has become the norm, founder and CEO of Tahche, Bryan Luoma, is taking a different and much more hands-on approach. Bryan’s commitment to staying connected with his team and keeping up to date with the goings-on in the Philippines led him and his family to embark on a two-week visit to the country this July.

The team took this amazing opportunity to have him sit down for a short interview where he shared the purpose of his visit alongside some updates on his family life as well as a lot of valuable insights about the business.

Keeping In Touch On the Ground

When asked about the purpose of his visit, Bryan emphasized the importance of being in touch with the business’ ground reality. He expressed his desire to witness firsthand the changes he had envisioned and to immerse himself in the vibrant culture of the Philippines.

“It really gives me joy and excitement to see all the changes that I’ve envisioned happening six months ago starting to happen already. And so to come here, and see what’s happening on the ground, talk to my team, talk about strategies that we want over the next quarter, and the next 6 months, it’s important for me to be on the ground and communicate that in person.”

For Bryan, the value of working together in an office environment cannot be understated. While Tahche supports various work arrangements depending on client demands, he actively promotes the advantages of having teams work together in a physical workspace where mentorship, collaboration, and rapport building between co-workers can take place. He leads by example by making it a point to visit the Tahche headquarters in the Philippines regularly.

“I think there’s really value in being in an office together, working side-by-side. And that’s why I really promote with our clients to have their teams working in the office. […] And I try and live that by being here in the office with my team as well.”

Tahche at the Forefront of Change

The excitement in Bryan’s voice is palpable as he acknowledges the positive transformations taking place in the industry and the Philippines’ major role in the evolution of employment worldwide. Just being part of it, Bryan feels a profound sense of purpose and anticipates a bright future for Tahche.

“Really, I’m excited about everything. I think that we are in a…interesting time in the world right now. The way employment is handled globally is changing. The Philippines is at the forefront of that. And I’m excited that Tahche is part of that change.”

Building on the Younger Generation

In a heartwarming twist, Bryan’s own son, Gabe, has joined Tahche as an intern during Bryan’s visit. Reflecting on his son’s journey, Bryan shares a touching story from his own youth.

“It’s a proud dad moment of mine to have Gabe interning here at the office. We have him spending a few days with each department, immersing himself into each department, learning about what they do, learning some of their processes.

I know when I first started way back when I was 16, 17 years old, I was working in my mom’s office at the housing and urban development. I started at the bottom, washing the windows, and mowing lawns, and painting apartments as they were transitioned from one tenant to another. And so we’ve kinda done the same thing with Gabe. We have him working at the entry level, at the intern level, doing some of the data entry, and the copying and scanning, and just helping out each department as he learns about what they do.

But really what I’m really hoping he learns is a love of work and a love of getting things done. And I’ve been really proud about how he is tackling each task with enthusiasm and a desire to do a good job, and pride in his work. He’s really taken to it in a way that I’m really proud of.”

Starting at the bottom, doing menial tasks, and gradually working his way up, Bryan knows the value of hands-on experience. Gabe is following a similar path, and he couldn’t be more proud.

“I think that this experience will serve him well for his entire life. And I’m really happy to have given that.“

With his son interning at Tahche, he also expressed the desire to introduce an internship program for Tahche’s clients and further invest in the development of young professionals. This also serves to give clients the full office experience in the Philippines.

A Message for Tahche

In a short message to his team, Bryan expresses his profound gratitude and acknowledges the collective effort that has made Tahche’s accomplishments possible. He recognizes that the journey is far from over and assures his team of his unwavering commitment to their shared vision.

“I’m really proud of you. I’m really proud of what you guys have done. None of what Tahche has accomplished would be possible without the people that are doing it. And while it may feel that we’ve done a lot in the last couple of years, through the pandemic, and through Typhoon Odette. There’s a lot more to come and a lot more that we want to accomplish. And so I’m hoping that you trust in me and trust in our vision, and we can continue to work together to achieve those goals.

So I would want to say thank you to all of you, and hope that I can continue to earn that trust, hope that we can continue to grow together, so that we can accomplish great things for the people in the Philippines and for our clients in the US. Thanks a lot. “

The Importance of Hand-On Leadership and Team Visibility

Bryan Luoma’s visit to the Philippines is proof of his visible, hands-on leadership. By immersing himself in the country’s vibrant culture and working closely with his team, he demonstrates his commitment to understanding the needs of his team on the ground to better support their growth and further enhance service to Tahche’s clients.

Bryan’s heartfelt visit and unwavering dedication serve as an inspiration to the Tahche tribe, reminding us all of the importance of staying connected, nurturing relationships, and striving for excellence in all that we do.

TRASH!on Extravaganza Brings Creativity, Sustainability, and Inclusivity to the Runway

In a dazzling display of creativity, Tahche hosted its much-anticipated TRASH!on Extravaganza within its office in 1Nito Tower, Cebu City last June 30, 2023. This employee engagement activity brought together the talented employees turned designers and models of Tahche to showcase incredible garments made entirely from recycled materials. Employees of all genders were welcomed to join and walk the runway. As the event venue lit up with vibrant colors and stunning designs, the event not only celebrated the ingenuity of the participants but also raised awareness about environmental sustainability and PRIDE.

Keeping it Exciting: The Judges and Criteria

The judging criteria included 50% for creativity, 20% for presentation, 20% for the wow factor, and 10% for diligence, with the last criterion scored during the creation process prior to the main event. Needless to say, the stage was set for an exhilarating competition.

Our esteemed panel of judges, consisting of Xenia Teresa Lecaros-Lagarnia, Amylene Sy, and Irah De Guzman, brought their diverse expertise and unique perspectives to the table, making the judging process even more thrilling.

Ready, Set, Rampa!

As the models strutted down the runway, the audience was captivated by the sheer ingenuity and beauty of the designs. Let’s take a closer look at some of the remarkable creations:

Raymund Delos Angeles, accompanied by model Janna Getuaban, drew inspiration from the common Filipino practice of using disposable paper plates at parties. His creation aimed to inspire Filipinos to seek sustainable alternatives to reduce the use of single-use paper plates. It was a powerful message wrapped in an exquisite garment.

Cy Jaranilla’s modern Filipiniana dress paid homage to the traditional clothing of the Philippines. The dress, made from a rice sack sprayed in gold, symbolized the bountiful harvest of our Filipino farmers. With intricate details made from crown caps from soda bottles, straw, and dried leaves, Cy showcased the potential of recyclables, creating a beautiful garment that can be used beyond the night and into the days to come.

Marianne Cañete’s creation was a testament to resourcefulness and simplicity. Using packaging plastic from the office, Marianne crafted a classic dress with the vibrant colors Tahche is known for — blue that showcases authority, confidence, and trust, and yellow that keeps things fun, energetic, and attention-grabbing. Through her creation, she hoped to showcase sustainability, social responsibility, and beauty in unexpected places.

After a group walk and a heartwarming walk with the designers, the audience was treated to a captivating video that highlighted the importance of environmental consciousness. The organizers also took this opportunity to announce Tahche’s upcoming employee engagement activities for July, ensuring that the momentum created by the TRASH!on Extravaganza continues to inspire positive change within and beyond the organization.

And the TRASH!ON ICON of 2023 is…

Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived—the awarding ceremony. Cashlee Paras, with his masterpiece showcasing the beauty of sea life to bring awareness to one of the greatest victims of pollution, was crowned the TRASH!ON ICON. Pierre Lindsey Villarante, who flawlessly modeled Cashlee’s creation, added an extra layer of magic to the winning ensemble with her beauty, attitude, and amazing presentation.

Mary Grace Espinosa, creator and model all at once, claimed the well-deserved second place, impressing the judges with her innovative and colorful design made from trash bags. Meanwhile, Jocelyn Paras, whose creation embodied the issue of single-use plastic packaging, especially in the era of online shopping and delivery, secured the third spot, with her work beautifully showcased by model Apple Sinden.

The TRASH!on Extravaganza was more than just a fashion show; it was a reminder that creativity, sustainability, and inclusivity can go hand in hand. Through events like this, Tahche reaffirms its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and a diverse and inclusive work culture where everyone can shine in a workplace that cares.

Meet Tim – Tahche’s New HR Operations Manager!

21 October 2022 – CEBU CITY, Philippines – Tahche is proud to announce that Fatima “Tim” Soberano joined the organization as the new HR Operations Manager! Tim will be leading Tahche’s team of Human Resources (HR) professionals in ensuring the company’s employees continue to love being part of their respective clients and Tahche. She will be overseeing employee relations and support processes, and promoting employee wellness and happiness.

Tim can pass as a millennial at first glance when you meet her, but she has decades (yes, plural) of People Management and Organizational Development under her belt. She honed her expertise in building world-class organizations with multinational corporations across different fields such as construction, mining, transportation, logistics, outsourcing, and services industries.

“It doesn’t feel like work when you spend each day doing what you love. I’m a round peg for that round hole in Tahche.”  Tim excitedly shared after her initial foray into seeing what is working well, the challenges, and areas for improvements ahead (which can make others shrivel).  “I wanted to join Tahche after seeing its commitment to client care and employee welfare. The recent SSS Top Employer award cemented that fact. What Tahche stands for is very much aligned with my interests, competence, and personal values,” she added.

Tim is a rare combination of a cool head and a warm heart. As an Industrial Engineer by profession, she has a naturally logical approach to problem-solving and processes building for organizational development. The entire Tahche team is excited to have Tim onboard! Everyone is looking forward to the tremendous impact she will have in continually improving how the organization serves its employees and clients alike. As the company continues to grow, challenges and opportunities will also evolve, and Tahche is confident that Tim will not only be the round peg but also be the tetrahedron peg when the need arises.
